Redirection is the process of forwarding one URL to a different URL. There are three main kinds of redirects: 301, 302, and meta refresh.

1. 301, "Moved Permanently"—recommended for SEO
2. 302, "Found" or "Moved Temporarily"
3. Meta refreshes are a type of redirect executed on the page level rather than the server level.

301 is the best redirect for a web page. It is a permanent redirect method by which a person visiting an old page (URL) is automatically redirected to a new page (URL). 301 Redirects transfer the domain authority (DA) and page authority (PA) and all the inbound links that the URL had to the new URL. It is used when you change your domain because you want Google to index the new domain while also sending the traffic visiting the old URL to the new one.
