Shopify is the leader for eCommerce platforms and hosts number of popular websites. Using Shopify, you will have total control over the design of your website as you get to choose from over a hundred different templates. This option is certainly the most technical friendly, as you really won’t have to do any development work if you don’t want. Shopify if a complete plug and play solution which will require you simply to choose the theme you like, fill in the sections of content with you own, and launch to the world. If you have a small bit of computer skill, and can easily navigate computer programs (not development) like WordPress, you should be able to follow the online tutorials and build yourself out a site.

Business Catalyst allows you to build typical and small-scale ecommerce websites. Once you sign up you will receive an ecommerce application that offers you a powerful content management system (CMS) that has the power to set up blogs, shopping carts, and forums. Feature tracking and analysis of user behavior is also very powerful and intuitive. Simple and concise user interface. Business Catalyst not only helps build your online store, it manages very well items and invoices ... BC is a full featured storage application, offering great support modes via electricity. Go with WordPress, it is best. You will get the various themes and options to manage your online store that is e-commerce site. You can integrate the payment gateway easily using it.
You don't have to customize the WordPress site as much because it will be already well designed. You can easily modify your items which you would like to sale on the site.
HTML and PHP won't help you to built the site. If you would like to use it then you will need to be expert in both platform. PHP is fine for development but won't be easy like WordPress.

I also go with WordPress .................
Believe that it will be reasonable to recommend some good and reliable e-commerce friendly hosts:
ipage.com (http://ipage.com), atom-hosting.com (http://atom-hosting.com), dreamhost.com (http://dreamhost.com), siteground.com (http://siteground.com) and also vortexnode.com (http://vortexnode.com)
They never sell overshared network as many other hosts do, so your sites will be always up and very fast.

Hey dude! If you have great knowledge of HTML, CSS, PHP, you can build eCommerce site with them. But if you have a little sense of coding then I suggest you build the site with WordPress. ItÂ’s easily customizable. And you need not write tons of code. ItÂ’s having the drag&drop system, so itÂ’s hassle-free to the non-coder.

Your platform for e commerce website depends upon the size of your website. So now we have more options than wordpress and php. Shopify, magento and wix are the most popular and best options for an e commerce website development.

It really depends on the size of the project and your technical skills.
If you need to launch an online store quickly, WordPress with WooCommerce is a great choice because it's easy to manage, has a large plugin ecosystem, and doesn't require building everything from scratch.
A custom PHP solution makes sense if you have very specific requirements or need features that aren't easily available through existing platforms. It offers more flexibility but also requires more development time and ongoing maintenance.
Using plain HTML is generally not practical for an e-commerce website because online stores need dynamic features like product management, shopping carts, user accounts, inventory tracking, and payment processing.
For most small to medium-sized businesses, WordPress with WooCommerce provides the best balance between functionality, cost, and ease of use. If the business grows and needs highly customized features, then a custom PHP application can be considered later.

For an eCommerce website, the right choice depends on your business requirements, budget, and future growth plans.
WordPress with WooCommerce is a good option for small to medium-sized online stores because it is easy to manage, offers many ready-made features, and allows quick updates without deep technical knowledge. PHP, on the other hand, is a programming language that can be used to build a completely custom eCommerce platform with advanced features and unique requirements.
HTML alone is generally not suitable for a full eCommerce website because online stores require dynamic features such as product management, shopping carts, user accounts, payment integration, and order processing.
For most businesses starting an online store, WordPress with a proper eCommerce setup can be a practical choice. For large-scale businesses requiring highly customized functionality, a custom PHP-based solution may be more suitable.
Before choosing a platform, it is better to define your requirements, expected traffic, budget, and long-term goals.
