Meta keyword tags were used to describe the focusing keywords and get search engine listing connected to the keywords used the meta keyword tags. But Google has publicly informed that their search engines do not validate the keyword meta tags. Google avoided keyword meta tags when a huge number of webmaster tried to miss use the keyword meta tag option by stuffing a huge number of keywords.

The <meta> tag provides metadata about the HTML document. Metadata will not be displayed on the page, but will be machine parsable. Meta elements are typically used to specify page description, keywords, author of the document, last modified, and other metadata.

The meta description of the page gives Google and the search engines a summary of that page's content. While the page title may be a few words or phrases, the description tag of the page must have one or two sentences or a short paragraph. The meta description tag is a fairly basic Onpage SEO element that needs to be carefully optimized. Google Webmaster Tools provides a useful content analysis that will tell you whether any meta tag is either too short, or too long, or overlaps too many times.

Meta keywords are On-Page SEO element and it is important for SEO as well because search engines gives a rank to a website on the basis of picked keywords for the website.
