Although I am skeptical about going for Directory Submission but I am not ignoring it completely.

Directory Submission may not be very effective in 2017 but that doesn't mean you should completely ignore it. You can still get backlinks if you do submission on high Quality directories in proper way.

I am doubtful whether Directory submission works as effectively as it worked back in 2015 or 2016. Very rarely do i go with directory submissions these days.

Although, I am not completely ignoring them. They can still be beneficial if done in a proper way.

Even if I have to do directory submission for my business or website. I go with the directory submission sites with high DA.

Also, I don't know whether links submitted in Directories remain permanent or not.

Directory submission is no more helpful as Google considers these websites are thin sites with very less content. Hence these websites are rarely crawled and indexed today.
