Cloaking is a search engine optimization (SEO) technique in which the content presented to the search engine spider is different from that presented to the user's browser. This is done by delivering content based on the IP addresses or the User-Agent HTTP header of the user requesting the page

Cloaking is a black hat SEO technique in which the content presented to the Search Engine Spider is different from that is presented to user's browsers. This is done by delivering content based on the IP addresses or the User-Agent HTTP header of the user requesting the page. When a user is identified as a search engine spider, a server-side script delivers a different version of the web page, one that contains content not present on the visible page, or that is present but not searchable.

Cloaking is a SEO (Search Engine Optimization) technique. Basically it's about presenting the crawler of search engines a different website than normal users. Clocking is showing the search engine one thing and your visitors another. This method is treated as spam and is not recommended to use.

This technique is part of blackhat SEO. One should not use it. When user search for any site then web browser displays the information of correct website but when you actually visit that information that time it redirects you to different site.

It happens many time that we search for some different site and you are redirected to pornographic site, it is nothing but cloaking. Purpose of it is to increases the visitors for the site and site rank get increases.

hi

Cloaking is a search engine optimization (SEO) technique in which the content presented to the search engine spider is different from that presented to the user's browser. This is done by delivering content based on the IP addresses or the User-Agent HTTP header of the user requesting the page. When a user is identified as a search engine spider, a server-side script delivers a different version of the web page, one that contains content not present on the visible page, or that is present but not searchable. The purpose of cloaking is sometimes to deceive search engines so they display the page when it would not otherwise be displayed (black hat SEO). However, it can also be a functional (though antiquated) technique for informing search engines of content they would not otherwise be able to locate because it is embedded in non-textual containers such as video or certain Adobe Flash components. As of 2006, better methods of accessibility, including progressive enhancement, are available, so cloaking is no longer necessary for regular SEO.

Cloaking is a form of the black hat or doorway page technique.

Some examples of cloaking include:
- Submitting a page of HTML text to search engines, while showing another page of images or Flash to users.
- Inserting text or keywords into a page only when the User-agent requesting the page is a search engine, not a human visitor.

Cloaking is a search engine optimization technique in which the content or information presented to the user is different from that presented to search engine crawlers (i.e. spiders or bots) for better indexing. In other words, the web server is specially programmed to return different content to search engines than it returns to regular users, in an attempt to distort search engine rankings. The Search engine may permanently ban from our index any sites or site authors that engage in cloaking.

What do you mean by Cloaking?

Cloaking is a Black Hat SEO technique in which one version of a webpage is shown to the user whereas another version is shown to the crawler.

Cloaking is not recommeded as it is a black hat technique and your website might be penalized for the same. So never ever indulge into Cloaking as you may have to suffer if Google penalizes your website.
