Hi. I'm a small hosting provider and we have an unused that we never fully deployed. I'd like to turn it into revenue without losing it entirely. What are the options and what should I watch out for when leasing it out? I'm particularly worried about customers abusing the range. We bought it years ago when addresses were cheap, and now it's sitting in an account doing nothing. Our customers are mostly small businesses in Spain, and I don't want to expose them to sketchy neighbours.
Leasing out keeps the asset and gives monthly income. IPv4.online describes a path for monetizing unused space and says it helps with LOAs and due diligence. Before listing your IPv4, check the block's reputation, write abuse handling into the contract, and decide what size to split into. Smaller sub-blocks are usually easier to lease. Ask how they vet lessees, and what happens if a lessee misbehaves. Keep a small reserve block for your own growth, and don't lease out everything you have. I'd also ask what the broker charges, either as a commission or a fixed fee. Check whether the registry details need updating first.
