Photoshop is a good one to use. There are many other tools as some of the members have put.
Adobe Illustrator or CoralDraw would be the software to choose from. Moreover, professional logos are supposedly simple without any effects.
Both Coral and Photoshop is good for logo designing. But Illustrator version cs5 is best for logo designing.
Illuistrator and corral draw both are best to design a logo.
I think photoshop is better but for logo designing corel draw is appropriate.
