Online Store Shopping Cart recommendations?

I found several web sites using self-calculating online
forms instead of a shopping cart.

Basically, they are web forms that calculate totals,
tax & shipping with each click of the mouse.
Compared to a shopping cart that bounces
back and forth to the server every time
a product is selected, the web form page
is sent only once. All product selections
are made on the same web page and submitted
only when the shopping is complete.
