The inability to open a website by name usually indicates a DNS (Domain Name System) problem.

    DNS server not responding:
This might be a temporary problem for the DNS not responding due to which you would not be able to access the website. This is because if the website is facing downtime issues, due to various internal technical issues.

If you are getting a DNS server error, means there is something incorrect with the Name Servers you have put in at Go Daddy. Ask HostGator what the correct name server would be and recheck those at Go Daddy. Also, it takes DNS servers to get updated from few minutes to 24 hours before the change in Name Servers for your domain is reflected globally. If you have changed the Name Servers recently, then wait for some time or ask your friend over other locations if they are able to see your site.

Make sure you have entered the correct details in the DNS settings such as nameserver.
Once you have done this give enough time for DNS to propogate, this is typically upto 72hours depending on your location.

If you are getting DNS server errors, then make sure you have entered right credentials. In case you did everything right but still not seeing any improvements then contact your Domain provider.

There can be multiple reasons which could result in the DNS error

    1. You'll need to make sure that you are having an active internet connection.
    2. You can use the host command through terminal or use any online tool available like: https://mxtoolbox.com/DNSLookup.aspx to check if the domain is correctly resolving to your IP
    3. If the domain is not resolving to any IP, you'll need to check the nameservers being used and make sure that the IP address is added there. Also you can check the status of the domain to check if the status is active.
    4. If the site is accessible via an online tool like https://tools.pingdom.com/ and is not being loaded from your end, please contact the hosting and make sure that your public IP is not blocked in the server firewall.
