Google's public stance about the EMD update closing the exact match domain name optimization loophole, some misconceptions remain that buying exact match domains actually works. When purchasing an exact match domain, most webmasters today have good intentions.

EMD doesn't contain so much ranking value after last several Google alogorithm updates. Most important thing right now is content.. content.. High Quality Content... If your content and SEO strategies are well enough, then you shouldn't have to worry about EMD. Rather, you should try some brandable names.

Exact match domain is not much effective in the SEO nowadays. Before few years, exact match domains was a very important aspect of SEO. But Google has decremented the importance of exact match domains now as it spams their algorithm. So right now, having a good content on your domain is very important compared to exact match domain.

What I have seen is that EMD's still work but it depends on a number of things. They still definitely work in the USA but not as well if at all in the UK. It will all boil down to your link profile. To many exact match anchors with your EMD is sure to fire off some negative signals in Google algo.

Moving into 2019 your site should be more brand focused.

An exact match domain is a website domain that is purchased to target specific keywords or a search query on Google. SEO practitioners have historically used this method as a way of gaming the system and effectively increasing their rankings on Google. Examples include:

    carinsurancecompanies.com
    watchonlinemoviesforfree.com
    besthostingprovidersuk.com

An EMD is a domain name that precisely matches a search query that will likely drive traffic to your website. For instance, if you call your website BuyCheapJeansOnline.com.

The search query ‘buy cheap jeans’ is a lucrative search term, and if you call your website this then you might assume this is a short cut to the top of a search engine results page (SERP).

But as you’ll learn, even if this works in the short term, you may want to avoid doing it.

There are mixed thoughts and statements about the effectiveness of EMD, but the majority still says that it's effective. As for me, it's still effective but it depends on very many factors. I learned more about this from https://similarcontent.com/blog/seo-content-writing/ so you can take a look. The domain name has to include keywords related to your website and a qualitative content is a must, so pay attention to these factors. Also, a brand focused website always has more success, so keep that in mind.

Exact match domains (EMDs) still have a role to play in successful SEO and this includes some target industries and local searches. One has to be careful if they have a large SEO strategy depending on optimizing an exact match domain since this could see initial growth but also be high-risk in the penalty department.

“From an SEO perspective, a keyword in a domain has very little direct impact today, but it does play a tremendous role in the anchor text of the links a website earns. In that regard, it can provide an SEO advantage. Another, and perhaps more important factor, however,is its role in branding
