A page that has a toolbar PageRank of 5 is a more powerful page, in the eyes of Google, than a page that has a toolbar PageRank of 4. The proprietary PageRank is the score used by Google to help determine how a page should rank in the search engines.

In simple words, Page Rank is the value or the popularity of the particular webpage. It matters for ranking a webpage.

In simple terms, page rank is a measure of how important a web page is. It works on the basis that when another website links to your web page it’s like a recommendation or vote for that web page.
