Google Hummingbird is the name of an algorithm implemented on the Google search engine . The purpose of this computer process is to improve the "human" understanding of a browser search. The idea is to better understand what a human seeks to return the most relevant results in relation to research.
Hummingbird is about synonyms but also about context. Google always had synonyms, but with Hummingbird it is also able to judge context - thereby judging the intent of a person carrying out a search, to determine what they are trying to find out.
