Rise of Giant OS – How Android Climb to the Top

Based on the Linux kernel and designed primarily for the smartphones and tablets, Android was initially released in the year September 2008 with the code name Alpha. It has slowly and steadily taken over the market share and is currently adopted by numerous vendors like Samsung, Lenovo, Asus, and many others. Not only Android has beaten one of the popular OS Symbian but also clearly outplayed iOS OS in 2019.

    Early Days of Android OS

Android was founded in October 2003, in Palo Alto, California. The primary focus was on developing a smart OS for digital cameras but the company kept the whole secret fact that they were working on future software for a mobile operating system.

Biggest competitors in those days were Symbian and Windows Mobile as Apple’s iOS hadn’t been launched until 29 June 2007. Google acquired Android in the Year 2005.

Android earned popularity with the launch of the Nexus series of devices in 2010, as an OS for the next generation smartphones and tablets. Since then, many new versions of the Nexus series have been launched by different vendors, with the latest versions of the Android OS.

Well, it’s the truth that Android has earned extraordinary success in recent years but it has also faced criticism in starting days with respect to OS usage, new features especially by the rival OS Apple & Windows Phone endorsers.

    Challenges Faced by Android OS

    Bit Complex for New Users

A lot of news rumored surrounding the use of Android OS that it’s complicated for a new user with respect to UI/UX. But later studies revealed that Android, unlike other OS, is pretty much easy to operate and use. Accordingly to my belief because before Android was introduced after Symbian and Windows Phone so most of the people were habitual to these OS. But when Android launched with some more new features so initially, people found some difficulty in accessing those new features. This is by far the only reason why new around Android rumored that it is a complicated OS.

Need For A Task Killer to Boost Performance On Android Devices

Android, when launched, faced a great deal of criticism by those who claim that the OS is in urgent need of a task-killer. Some users consider that a task-killer would support in boosting the performance of their device. So to boost up their smartphone performance users started to download task-killers in an attempt to boost battery-life and get more performance out of their respective devices.

However, some users have found that using a task-killer slows the performance of their device to some degree. In fact, by deleting these task-killer applications helped their smartphones run much quicker. The battery life and the endurance of such phones depicted a positive trend when a task-killer wasn’t used.

    The Threat Of Malware

In 2012, Android OS faced another criticism. Users complained that their devices were found infected from malware, malicious URL and Smishing. So, based on these users assumptions, news rumored that Android applications come up with malicious software. However, this is not the original truth. The average user can safely use Android apps if he/she refrains from installing apps from third-party sites. The users who install third-party apps and root their devices only those people face disastrous consequences. The best noticeable feature that I found on the Android OS is that the apps ask you for permissions before they’re installed. This helps you control whatever is being installed on your phone and helps keep malware menaces at bay.

    Frequent Application Crashes?

Most of the users complained that the app crashes repeatedly more often on their Android devices as compared to other OS likewise iOS & Windows Phone. But what I feel is that it is not entirely true. Every newly-updated OS faces such issues, while android application developers, iOS app developers try to tackle these issues. Once they are resolved, the platform gets right back on track, be it Android or iOS.

    Android in the Year 2019

In the current year 2019-20, Android has been seeing a remarkable increase in sales. This has been attributed to a numerous number of factors. The main reason for Android’s victory is the fact that it is very slick in its appearance and intelligent in its working. This gives it a huge edge, even over rival OS such as the iOS 12.

On Android OS Smartphones, You Can Use Widgets!

Android allows its users to place widgets on the home screen. Widgets are remarkably helpful as they make major apps easily accessible. The fact that other OS doesn’t have this feature gives Android an upper hand. From emails to weather reports, latest news and traffic information, you can have widgets for just about anything that means to you.

    Latest Features of Android

From time to time Android OS has brought new features in their OS. Below I have mentioned some latest features
    • New Gesture Navigation.
    • Better Battery Life.
    • Improved Notification Bar.
    • Adaptive Brightness.
    • Improved Security Features.
    • Easier Screen Rotation.
    • Selectable Dark Mode.
    • Easier Text Selection
    • Android Future

Looking at the current synopsis, it’s quite evident that Android is the authoritative platform when it comes to mobile devices. With Android mobile prices and Android tablet prices being rather more flexible, these devices can be purchased and used by people belonging to almost every stratum of society. With the slickness and simple usage that this OS offers, it’s highly likely that Android will have an influential hold over the mobile computing market, even in the near future.

Concern regarding the complains Android developers keep releasing new and interesting updates so that the consumers get flawless UX on their respective Android Devices.
