The part at the right of the last dot in a domain/host name. So for instance example.com the com is a top level domain. You could think of it as domains read from right to left with the top level domain coming first. mysub.mydomain.org. org is the top level domain. mydomain is a sub domain of org . mysub is a sub domain of mydomain.
