Meta Description can be any length, but search engines generally truncate snippets longer than 160 characters. It is best to keep Meta Tags long enough that they're sufficiently descriptive, but shorter than that 160-character limit.
Google has finally made some changes and increased the titles to 70-71 characters. Meta descriptions, we tend to keep it between 150-160 characters because Google usually truncate snippets that are longer than 160 characters.
You can include max. 60 characters in meta title & 160 in meta description tags.
