The reason why your site is not cached in Google is the “NoArchive” directive that you found in the settings. Turning that off effectively removes the “noarchive” directive from your pages. Google and other search engines will now cache your pages.

Reason: the page is not cached. You can also see the 404 error page in Google Cache for a page, even if the site hasn't yet been switched to mobile-first indexing. This may happen because Google doesn't store a cached view for all the pages they crawl and index.

During the crawl the website is not loading due to server down or the website takes more time to load. So the web spiders just skips to crawl and store in their index servers.

Google Cache comprises the picture of this raw HTML which Googlebot received out of the waiter. Subsequently your HTML seized by Google is left from the browser. The theory behind Google keeping cached pages is pretty simple: it enables users navigate a full page once the page is down or in case of a momentary time out.

We too came to find answer after facing the same issue for one of our client’s website. Initially, none of the above answers helped us to find a solution for the issue.

Since not getting a solution put us to research more to fix the issue by using hit and trial method.

After that we get in more depth to get a solution, we found that the reason being a loop between http elements and https server for the website.

Infact, We had few elements such as fonts which were for HTTP access and our client’s server being secure was not able to complete the loop to load the page. And for this reason webpage got continuously loading.

Once we fixed and allowed the website to re-cache by Google, the issue got sorted.
