Google now uses HTTPS as a ranking signal. Data analysis has shown that HTTPS websites have a higher advantage of ranking over HTTP links, so switching to HTTPS will benefit any website, whether or not confidential information is involved.

HTTP expands to Hyper text transfer protocol,

whereas https expands to Hyper text transfer protocol secure.

There is nothing like good among these. It depends on your usage.

https helps in keeping your data secure from hackers.

while using https, it scrambles the data using a “code” that is generated between the machines, which doesn’t allow anyone to read it in between.

So, if your data is sensitive, use https, else http will do the job for you.

https offers an extra layer of security because it uses SSL to move data. For all intents and purposes, HTTPS is HTTP, it's just the secure version. To get technical on you, the main difference is that it uses TCP Port 443 by default, so HTTP and HTTPS are two separate communications.
