Each time an ad is eligible to appear for a search, it goes through the ad auction. The auction determines whether or not the ad actually shows and in which ad position it will show on the page. Here's how the auction works: When someone searches, the Google Ads system finds all ads whose keywords match that search.

I’m going to assume you mean Google’s AdWords Auction, since I don’t know of any other “Google Auction”.The basic principle is you set a maximum CPC (cost-per-click) bid for your ad(s) which is taken into consideration, along with other factors, to determine when your ad is displayed.

    Hi…

I think you mean Google AdWords auction, i don’t know about Google Auction.

When someone searches, the AdWords system finds all ads whose keywords match that search.
From those ads, the system ignores any that aren't eligible, like ads that target a different country or are disapproved.
Of the remaining ads, only those with a sufficiently high Ad Rank may show. Ad Rank is a combination of your bid, ad quality, and the expected impact of extensions and other ad formats.

Google Ad Auction positions advertisers based on auction time ad quality and their max CPC bids. Unlike traditional auctions, the highest bidder cannot win a Google ad auction.

Ad quality comprises of a number of factors -

    Ad Relevance
    Expected CTR
    Landing page experience
