    Hi Friends,
A common cause is 'slow' server. In general Gogole has a pretty low timeout. Anything over about 2 seconds is 'at risk'. Anything above about 5 seconds, definitely an issue. you have to simply speed up you site and it will defiantly solve the issue.

Crawl anomaly: An unspecified anomaly occurred when fetching this URL. This could mean a 4xx- or 5xx-level response code; try fetching the page using the URL Inspection tool to see if it encounters any fetch issues. It may or may not be indexed in the future; no need to resubmit this URL for crawling.

A lot has changed in the five years since I first wrote about what was Google Webmaster Tools, now named Google Search Console. ... To their credit, Google has developed more help docs and support resources to aid Search Console users in locating and fixing errors.

Crawl errors occur when a search engine tries to reach a page on your website but fails at it. Let's shed some more light on crawling first. Crawling is the process where a search engine tries to visit every page of your website via a bot

Crawl anomaly error is an crawl error which is an unspecified anomaly error occurred while Google Bot is fetching your website URL throwing and error level of 400 or 500 levels are served to Google bot.

If you see your website facing crawl anomaly error then you need to check with you server logs first and see why crawl anomaly error occurred. Then try to figure out which type of error level response code i.e. 4xx level or 5xx level error has occurred. To do this the best way is debugging crawl anomaly error by url inspection tool. Url inspection tool gives you all details about your webpage and tells you how google bot has crawled the webpage including http response code, page is mobile friendly, chrome browser issues, snapshot of how google bot sees your webpage, canonical url, and many other issues.

If it is with the 404 then you need to check any redirection happening with the URL which is taking too long to return 200 ok response codes. If it is a 500 server error then you need to make sure your website fast by reducing the number of requests to the server which is slowing down Google Bot to take time and return a 500 error.
