HTML 5 defines the fifth major revision of the core language of the World Wide Web, HTML. "HTML 5 differences from HTML 4" describes the differences between HTML 4 and HTML 5 and provides some of the rationale for the changes. This document may not provide accurate information as the HTML 5 specification is still actively in development. When in doubt, always check the HTML 5 specification itself.

HTML 5 introduces new elements to HTML for the first time since the 1990’s. New structural elements include aside, figure, and section. New inline elements include time, meter, and progress. New embedding elements include video and audio. New interactive elements include details, datagrid, and command.

HTML 5 specification is not considered complete until you have at least two full-scale implementation of the specification. The test kit used to measure the integrity of the implementations. This approach differs from previous versions of HTML usually the final technical requirements must be approved in committee before their actual implementation.

The basic difference between both is that ...HTML4 contains some deprecated tags such as <font> and <centre> that are removed in next version, but HTML 5 has new tags like <nav> website navigation block and <footer > for bottom lines in web page have been added.

I am not sure about the different in Html 4 and Html5. HTML 5 has a single language. It reduces development costs. HTML 4 supports multimedia options and scripting languages that are easily accessible to users with disabilities.

HTML5 the new web standard that has been adopted by Apple. HTML5.0 is quite similar to XHTML. While HTML 4.0 is really an outdated concept.

HTML 4.0 is an out-dated markup language that does not have the current specifications, whereas HTML 5 is quite similar to XHTML.
