SSL Certificate is a protocol and a bridge between browser and server which establish a secured connection and encrypts the user information using secured hash algorithms.
If we take a survey on statics of past five years, the use of the Internet is increased, and in parallel, the rates of cyber attacks and cyber crime is also boosted up. Millions of websites are being the victim of cyber attacks and cyber crime. The analysis of Cyber crime victim websites shows there were no such security protocols ever implemented, and cyber criminals have taken a huge advantage of it.
To fights against cyber attacks and cyber crimes, in 2014 Google has announced HTTPS as ranking Signal. This security implementation of Google migrates all HTTP users to adopt HTTPS to cater the encrypted communication and safest environment to their users.
SSL Certificate not only secure the communication, it also identifies the website/business is genuine, verified and trusted. As the SSL Encrypt the communication between browser and server, during a message transfer from one computer to another, if there is a breach or cyber-attack, the attacker will not be able to see what message is being sent as the message was encrypted by the SSL Certificate.
SSL Certificate assures the information being send was not tampered or changed during the communication transfer.
Website Secured with SSL Certificate displays HTTPS + Organization Name in URL, this increases user trust and confidence. These indicators clearly telling that the Business is Legitimate and the user can share their financial information for online transactions without any fear of getting trapped or breached.
Web users think HTTPS is slower than the HTTP, but it’s a simply Myth, but eventually HTTPS improved the website speed. compare the HTTP vs HTTPS speed test. Below test displays HTTPS is 72% Faster than HTTP.

There will be a question is each user’s mind about which SSL Certificate he actually needs to use, as there are many SSL certificate types, Here is the simple solution.
Single Domain Website which never collects payment information, Domain Validated SSL Certificate works fine.
A Website which collection Payment information, or user’s credentials, they should either use the Organization Validated SSL or Extended Validated SSL Certificate. (Government, E-commerce, Social Media, News, Healthcare, Banking, etc industries are suggested to use the EV SSL Certificate).
Website with multiple sub-domains, a single Wildcard SSL Certificate will work for all sub-domains.
If a user wishes to secure multiple website under single Certificate, a Multi Domain (SAN/UCC) SSL Certificate will work best.
“very lightweight signal” within the overall ranking algorithm. Per google's announcement back in 2015. to make the world wide web more secure and encourage visitors to shop online, Google encourages webmasters and site owners to enforce SSL on their sites.
Great marketing idea. More people will be clicking on google ads and purchasing goods and services online.
In my opinion, the movie was targeted to improve e-commerce sales.
SSL and SEO are quite closely related, and SSL does affect SEO rankings.
Hello,
SSL certificates ensure that the information that goes from your computer to the website is encrypted between the two and therefore is not easily hacked. As an initiative to make the web more secure, on September 8, 2016 Google announced that Chrome would start to explicitly label HTTP connections as "Not Secure". The idea is that then you know the information is going over the internet unencrypted.
Beginning in January 2017, Chrome will mark HTTP pages (meaning pages without an SLL certificate) that collect passwords or credit cards as non-secure, as part of a long-term plan to mark all HTTP sites as non-secure.
Going forward this will become much more explicit with any sites lacking an SSL certificate labelled "NOT SECURE".
Google is basically giving everyone time to get up to speed before this happens — but not a lot of time.
If you have any pages requesting passwords, your site will be labeled explicitly NOT SECURE starting January 1, 2017.
Eventually all sites without SSL certificates will also have explicit labeling.
No doubt this will have a profound impact on user experience. No one wants to go to a site labeled not secure.
