.NET is easy to learn. It is certain that the answer to this question is in the affirmative because .NET is easy to understand, learn, and implement. While learning about .NET, you will certainly come across the most significant concepts related to it such as Microsoft Framework Architecture, OOP, C#.NET, ADO.NET, ASP.NET, Visual Studio, and Web Services, and you will also realize that C# is adjudged as the most popular language used in the .NET ecosystem.

To learn .NET first of all you need to learn any of the programming languages preferably C# or VB.NET. If you have any other object-oriented programming experience these should be easy to learn. Next is what exactly you want to learn in .NET. Is it web programming, windows programming, services etc.

If you are planning to learn web programming then you have to learn the basics of web development like HTML, javascript, jquery, request-response model etc. Going further you can learn about the MVC framework and web essentials.

or if you are planning to learn Windows programming, it is better to start with WPF as windows development is almost outdated.

On the services side, you can start with SOAP basics and then move to WCF. Or learn about web api.

.NET is a huge collection of many functions and services in a wide range of domains. I highly doubt that anybody knows all of it or even significant portions of it. Rather people learn to program in a .NET based language, such as C#, and the core services provided by. NET. Learning this should take you anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months, depending on your existing knowledge and skill.

.NET and Java are way too different from each other. One is a framework while the other is a programming language. In spite of the differences between the two, there is always a baseless debate centered round “which one is easier to learn .NET or Java?” This debate is deemed as baseless because of the difference between the two. Therefore, instead of following the false assumptions and enquiring about which out of the two is easier to learn, be well-informed and ask if .NET is easy to learn. Since C# is a derivative of C++: one of the basic programming languages, parallel to Java, therefore it is easier for Java professionals to learn .NET which is primarily written and engineered in C#. It is here that the connection between .NET and Java lies, unlike the one usually assumed by the candidates.
