The host name represents the network or system used to deliver a user to a certain address or location. The domain name represents the site or project that the user is accessing.

The main difference between hostname and domain name is that the hostname refers to the network that is used to direct a user to a certain website while a domain name refers to the website the user is accessing.

The hostname indicates the network or system that connects a user to a certain address or location of a web server. The domain name indicates the site or project the user is visiting. A name is used to identify a person, a place, or an object, and computers use names to identify one machine from another. These names are referred to as hostnames on computers. At the same time, A domain name is the website address used by the user to access the website.

In layman's terms, the host name refers to the network or system that is responsible for delivering a user to a certain address or location. The domain name refers to the website or project that the user is now seeing or accessing.

What is Host Name - A hostname is the name given to a computer or other device that is linked to a computer network and has an IP address, which is the numerical address or location of the web server. A name is used to identify a person, a place, or an object, and computers use names to distinguish one machine from another. These names are referred to as hostnames on computers. These are labels that can be read by humans and are used to identify a certain system. The hostnames on the Internet are part of a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN), which is unique across the Internet.

What is Domain Name - Both a hostname and a domain name are required to complete the FQDN. In fact, the FQDN is created by combining a hostname with a domain name. A domain name is the address of your website on the Internet, which is analogous to a physical address. It's one of the components of a URL, which is used to access a website. The purpose of domain names is to make IP addresses more human-friendly. These are the parts of the IP address that are the most easily recognisable. An IP address is a string of numbers that is assigned to every computer connected to the internet.

The hostname helps identify the network that directs the user to a specific site. When a user visits a website or web page, the web address or location is displayed at the top of the web browser. This web address is also called a Uniform Resource Locator (URL).
A domain name is necessary for a website to be visible to visitors. It is a piece of string that helps identify the site. Remembering IP addresses is not practical for visitors. Therefore, it is easy to use domain names to get instant access to the required site.

Let's put this in simple terms think of a domain name as being an apartment number while the host name being the building address. The domain name is specific to the apartment while the host name is broadmatch of the whole block.
