Page speed is important to users because, well, faster pages are more efficient and provide a much better on-page user experience. Per a recent Kissmetrics infographic, if a page takes longer than 3 seconds to load, over a quarter of users will click away.

At Google, we aim for under a half-second.” Half a second is fast, to put it in layman terms it's close to blinking, while two seconds is shorter than one breath--and that PageSpeed time is what they thought websites 6 years ago should be aiming for.

Page speed is important to users because, the faster pages indicate that the site is more efficient. Page speed of 0.08 to less than 2.5 seconds will be good. Faster pages means users /visitors will stay on the page instead of leaving it. If a page takes longer than 3 seconds to load, over a quarter of users will click away.

Page speed is a direct ranking factor since Google's Algorithm Speed Update. ... Studies by Google show that average 3G loading speed is very slow. The study confirms that users leave the site after about 3 seconds. Pages with a longer load time tend to have higher bounce rates will affect the ranking. You'll lose out on sales and traffic if your site loads slowly.

    Hi,
Page speed refers to how fast your site loads for a user, something Google takes into account while ranking websites since a faster loading page directly translate to better user experience. If the interviewer asks what you would do to increase page speed, describe how you’ve achieved this in the past with examples such as reducing image sizes, enabling compression, reducing redirects, removing render-blocking JavaScript, leveraging browser caching, improve server response time, using a content distribution network to compress files, optimizing the code, etc.
