What is frequency capping in AdWords?
Hi,
Frequency capping allows the advertiser to limit how many times an ad is visible to an individual. We can set this frequency cap at the ad, ad group and campaign level. Advertiser can also segment them by month, week or day.
It's a feature that limits the number of times your Display or Video ads appear to the same person!

3/24 is the generally the best frequency cap for some unfathomable sociological reason, as on average more users will click on your ad if they see it 3 times per day. This is just an average of course, and different frequency caps will be appropriate for different ads on different networks.

Generally, in order to optimize ROI of your ad placements and keep users happy, it is best practice to cap the frequency of ad impressions a user sees per session to 3-4 ads (or a maximum of 10 ads per day).
In display advertising, frequency is the average number of times an ad will show to a single user in a given time frame. Frequency capping, therefore, is a limit on the number times an ad will show to a particular user in a given time frame.
For display advertising, frequency caps are useful to prevent wasting ad spend on a small number of users. They’re also useful to prevent users from feeling that they’re being “stalked” by your ads, particularly with retargeting campaigns.
