An HTML sitemap allows site visitors to easily navigate a website. It is a bulleted outline text version of the site navigation. The anchor text displayed in the outline is linked to the page it references. Site visitors can go to the Sitemap to locate a topic they are unable to find by searching the site or navigating through the site menus.

An HTML sitemap is an HTML page on which all subpages of a website are listed. It is usually linked in the footer of a site and is therefore visible to all visitors.

In contrast to XML sitemaps, HTML sitemaps are mainly created for users, as they help them to get an overview of the structure of your site and to navigate through all the subpages. Visually, an HTML sitemap resembles a navigation bar where all tabs are opened and where you can click on each link to get to the corresponding subpage.

A HTML Sitemap should contain a link to every page on the website that you want people to find. If however the site is particularly large it s often better to have several sitemaps broken into relevant sections / categories should be used to link (collectively) to every page on the site.

The HTML sitemap is site navigation’s text version that too in a bulleted outline. The visitors of the website can easily look for a topic on the sitemap which they are not able to find anywhere on the site by navigating and searching through menus, or the site. With the help of an HTML sitemap, the visitors on a particular site can easily move on the website from one page to another.

HTML sitemaps use anchor links to list all of a website’s URLs by category to help visitors quickly find a specific page. Tackle Warehouse, for example, links to their sitemap in their footer; their sitemap includes links to every product on their website from Paddle Tail Swimbaits to Shimano Spinning Reels. HTML sitemaps were more common before website navigation menus moved into website headers, but they can still add some SEO value for specific use cases.
