The key to successful image optimization for web performance is to find the perfect balance between lowest file size and acceptable image quality. The three things that play a huge role in image optimization are: Image file format (JPEG vs PNG vs GIF) Compression (Higher compression = smaller file size)

Image optimization is about reducing the file size of your images as much as possible without sacrificing quality so that your page load times remain low. It’s also about image SEO. That is, getting your product images and decorative images to rank on Google and other image search engines.

Enter a value between 0 and 100 in the Quality box. The higher the Quality setting, the more detail is preserved in the optimized image, but the larger the file size. View the optimized image at several quality settings to determine the best balance between quality and file size.

Click on the browse button and select a digital photo from your computer that you wish to optimize. Step 2: Select the compression level between 0-99 that you want to apply to the image. A low compression level will result in a much smaller filesize but image quality will be lower.
