Sitewide links are outbound links that appear multiple times throughout an entire web site or a section of a website. Typically these are links that appear in the footer, sidebar or navigation menu.

Sidewide links are those links that appear on every page of the website. We usually find it on header and footer section of the page. You could easily place sitewide links, or have sitewide links to your website placed on other websites.

a “sitewide link” is a backlink that points to one single URL but does so on every page of that particular website. i.e.- those captions you see at the bottom of a lot of websites where it says something like “Powered By…”

Most will already know this, but just to be clear, a sitewide link is one that appears on most or all of a website's pages. ... You can also get sitewide links from being mentioned in the footer of a site if the site uses a template where the same footer is used for every single page

Well, it's because Google wants to know if you put those footer links purely for SEO, or to truly help the end-user. ... Blatant SEO keywords in the footer might get you penalized if there's no other clear reason for their existence. So, footer links can be both good and bad for your website…

Link building is the process of acquiring hyperlinks from other websites to your own. A hyperlink (usually just called a link) is a way for users to navigate between pages on the internet.

It’s a link that appears on most (or all) of a website’s pages. But, when using sitewide links, you need to be careful. Depending on how you implement them, they can end up flagged as spam. Here are two common places where sitewide links may appear:

    – At the footer. If a site uses a template for its footer, any link added there will likely be a sitewide link. However, this tactic is risky. They are commonly abused by website owners, and search engines can view them as paid links.

    – At a site’s sidebar. A list of these links appears on the side of every page of a website. Many argue that these can be even more detrimental than footer links. They occupy a larger space within a site, and thus, they are easy for search engines to spot.

A sitewide link is one that appears on most or all of a website’s pages. A common area to see sitewide links is in the blogroll that is in the sidebar and appears on every page.
