The Fetch as Googlebot feature in Webmaster Tools now provides a way to submit new and updated URLs to Google for indexing. After you fetch a URL as Googlebot, if the fetch is successful, you'll now see the option to submit that URL to our index.

Google Fetch, or Fetch as Googlebot, is a search engine optimization feature with two modes: 1. Fetch – Quick Check and 2. Fetch & Render – Deeper View. Google Fetch lets webmasters test how a search engine crawls a website’s URLs. Google Fetch is a mode you can select that commands Googlebot to crawl the URL based on a path you specify. You can then see the response your site sends Googlebot, allowing you to check for basic errors, connectivity, redirects, or other issues your website might have.

The second mode, Google Fetch & Render, asks Google to crawl the URL and show the display as you would see on a browser.

The Fetch as Google tool enables you to test how Google crawls or renders a URL on your site. You can use Fetch as Google to see whether Googlebot can access a page on your site, how it renders the page, and whether any page resources (such as images or scripts) are blocked to Googlebot. This tool simulates a crawl and render execution as done in Google's normal crawling and rendering process, and is useful for debugging crawl issues on your site.

In order to see your website, Google needs to find it. When you create a website, Google will discover it eventually. The Googlebot systematically crawls the web, discovering websites, gathering information on those websites, and indexing that information to be returned in searching.

Googlebot crawls web pages via links. It finds and reads new and updated content and suggests what should be added to the index. The index, of course, is Google's brain. ... Googlebot is Google's web crawler or robot and other search engines have their own.

This feature lets the webmaster fetch a specified URL from the site, and present the HTTP response.
This feature is specifically used to check security and network connectivity issues with the site, based on the success or failure of the response.
Fetch does not run or request any other related resources from the URL, like scripts or images.

Fetch as Google is a tool in Search Console which allows users to test if Googlebot is able to fetch a URL on your site and how it renders a webpage. If a page was successfully fetched, the user can request that Google recrawl and possibly re-index the page (and any linked pages). .
