    Hello,

"A top-level domain (TLD) is one of the domains at the highest level in the hierarchical Domain Name System of the Internet after the root domain. The top-level domain names are installed in the root zone of the namespace. For example, in the domain name www.example.com., the top-level domain is com."

Top-level domain (TLD) refers to the last segment of a domain name, or the part that follows immediately after the "dot" symbol.

For example, in the internet address: https://www.google.com, the “.com” portion is the TLD.

TLDs are mainly classified into two categories: generic TLDs and country-specific TLDs.

Examples of some of the popular TLDs include:

    .com

    .org

    .net

    .gov

    .biz

    .edu.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), is the entity that coordinates domains and IP addresses for the internet.

Historically, TLDs represented the purpose and type of domain or the geographical area from which it originated. ICANN has generally been very strict about opening up new TLDs, but in 2010, it decided to allow the creation of numerous new generic TLDs as well as TLDs for company-specific trademarks.

Top-level domains are also known as domain suffixes.

TLD stands for ‘top-level domain’ and refers to the rightmost part of every domain name. In namecheap.com, ‘namecheap.com’ is the domain name, and ‘.com’ is the TLD. If you’re looking for a TLD, check out our top-level domain list to see what you can register, or try our domain name search.

TLD is the acronym used for top-level domain. It’s the last segment of a domain name after the final dot.

A great example of a TDL is: .com

The IANA officially recognizes three types of TLDs:

    gTLD – Generic Top-Level Domains
    sTLD – Sponsored Top-Level Domains
ccTLD – Country Code Top-Level Domains
Your TLD plays an important role in the Domain Name System (DNS).

You can change your WordPress site’s TDL by taking advantage of 301 redirect.

top-level domain (TLD) is the part of a domain that comes after the dot, for example, com, org or net.

Generally, you can divide TLDs into two types:

Generic top-level domains (gTLD) - Roughly all domains that are not associated with a country. The most known are com, org and net. All gTLDs fall under ICANN's policies.
Country-code top-level domains (ccTLD) - All domains that are identified with a country or geographical location, for example, de, nl or dk. A ccTLD always consists out of two letters.
Over the last years, a lot of new gTLDs have become available, for example, .agency, .email or .house. At One.com you can choose from more than 250 different TLDs.

A top-level domain (TLD) is the suffix or extension tied to a website. Around half of all websites use the top-level domain com, commonly called “dot” com. Other common TLDs include net, org, and edu.

In the website address or URL .com is the top-level domain.

A TLD (high-level area) is the most convenient space in the Internet's progressive DNS (area name framework). A TLD is the last part of an area name, for instance, "organization" in developer.mozilla.org. ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) assigns associations to deal with each TLD.
