SSL is a protocol which is responsible for transmitting private documents via the Internet in secured way. It's benefits are to have a secure site so that you can use the shopping cart or any other oscommerce cart on your website. SSL allows you to browse your site with "https://" instead of "http://". SSL certificate is a must for e-commerce site as its ensures that the confidential information like credit card numbers and bank account information entered by your customers remains secure. Main advantage of having dedicated SSL is to gain trust of your potential buyers. Some customers may feel uncomfortable to put their credit card details on a website which has different secure URL. If you want your customers to put their credit card details on your shopping cart then dedicated SSL is much better. Dedicated SSL also shows that the SSL Certificate is in your company name and dedicated to your website.

The Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol was created by Netscape to ensure secure transactions between web servers and browsers. The protocol uses a third party, a Certificate Authority , to identify one end or both end of the transactions

SSL is an acronym for Secure Sockets Layer, an encryption technology that was created by Netscape. SSL creates an encrypted connection between your web server and your visitors' web browser allowing for private information to be transmitted without the problems of eavesdropping, data tampering, or message forgery.

To enable SSL on a website, you will need to get an SSL Certificate that identifies you and install it on the server. The use of an SSL certificate on a website is usually indicated by a padlock icon in web browsers but it can also be indicated by a green address bar. Once you have done the SSL install, you can access a site securely by changing the URL from http:// to https://. When an SSL certificate is installed on a website, you can be sure that the information you enter (contact or credit card information), is secured and only seen by the organization that owns the website.

Millions of online businesses use SSL certificates to secure their websites and allow their customers to place trust in them. In order to use the SSL protocol, a web server requires the use of an SSL certificate. SSL certificates are provided by Certificate Authorities (CAs).

Online Safety is essential to doing business online - and in the minds of its customers. Because virtually anyone can create a website and offer products for sale online, customers may wonder why they should trust their website. Whether your site accepts online payments or collect customer information through forms, take steps to show your visitors that your site is legitimate and safe is vital to the success of your business.

Yeah, I switched from Plesk, too, somewhere in the neighborhood of 7 years ago, after being a Plesk gold partner. I know what you mean.

Note for the future that if you ask anything which we'll be able to better help you with after testing, please use the real information.

As you know that SSL technology works through a private key which encrypts the data before sending it across internet. SSL is supported by all browsers and URLs using SSL connection begin with https: rather than usual http:. Getting a cheap SSL is not difficult as there are many certifying authorities selling them at affordable rates. A website obtains a SSL certificate once its identity is established by a certifying authority. When your site is authenticated, SSL certificate would encrypt all data typed onto the website for being sent to the server.

SSL (Secure Electrical sockets Layer) is a method developed to allow programs to give details back and forth safely. Applications that use the Protected Electrical sockets Part method naturally know how to give and get security important factors with other programs, as well as how to defend and decrypt details sent between the two.
