GoogleandYahoo both have entirely different algorithm. Google gives more importance for back links while Yahoo loves content and text. In case of Yahoo if you have your meta details and content with enough keywords your site will rank well in Yahoo.

As said in previous reply the algorithm differs for each search engines. However, Google has a far far better algorithm and because of that it has huge share of search volumes when compared with other search engines

The methods of SEO is almost the same just that they target different site while If you look for Yahoo SEO then you do need to build your link in Yahoo related site like Yahoo Answers or site that high index by Yahoo.
If you focus in Google SEO then you need to build Google Backlink and get high index page in Google search engine.
