Network Security?
I am a network administrator. Recently, a number of local companies have been hacked, some from the Internet and some by physical break-ins. I need to address these possibilities for my company. What security tools and procedures can anyone recommend to deploy and use in a situation like this? For the network? What vulnerabilities would these monitor or correct? If you have been a security consultant, what security solution you would provide at first hand?

At a bare minimum, a strong firewall system, preferably at network level as opposed to hardware/software based. Then also a flood blocker and DoS/DDoS protection.

A small network won't need a huge investment in security on average, but the above are fundamentals and are free/fairly cheap to implement.
