Hi,
If your website has more than three years, you probably had to put him through maintenance a few times. If you have not done that, it is very much likely that at least one of the 3 points below apply to you and you should start planning a redesign.

1. Your business objectives have changed.

Let's start with an obvious point, by its simplicity, but it must be mentioned. Business objectives change, and if you want a website that reflects your business, it must be as updated as your last business plan. In fact, I am always surprised when I talk to the owner of a website that describes a company quite different from what is stated on its website.

2. Your site is based too heavily on Flash.

The main objection to Flash as a Web development technology, was that this technology prevented these sites to be properly indexed by search engines. But now, Flash files can be indexed by search engines if they are properly optimized. So what about all those Flash websites designed a few years ago? You know those sites that made you watch a loading animation that re-sized your browser window, that played some techno tune, or those that made all sorts of sounds and clicks each time you place your cursor on something? Well, they're still bad sites. They are still invisible for the search engines because they were not created with new user-friendly search parameters for Flash, and are frankly boring. Irritate a potential customer is definitely not a good way to start a business relationship. It's actually quite shocking seeing sites built this way in 2010.

While Flash has managed to adapt its architecture for search engines and is often used to facilitate certain features, including video, viewers and navigation menus, it remains the public enemy number one for the mobile platform of Apple, which includes users of iPod touch, iPhone and i-Pad that will not be able to access or use your flash or Flash-site hybrid.

3. Your site suffers from the Frankenstein syndrome.

Many companies make major investments in their websites with the unrealistic expectation that it is a one-time expense. But as technology evolves rapidly, a website must be changed frequently, ideally enhanced. If you do not update regularly and you only occasionally add a section, then another, this can give an overall result patched and shapeless. Sometimes a redesign is the best way to ensure that your website represents your corporate identity and provides the best experience for users.
