In the context of the World Wide Web, a content farm (or content mill) is a company that employs large numbers of often freelance writers to generate large amounts of textual content which is specifically designed to satisfy algorithms for maximal retrieval by automated search engines. Their main goal is to generate advertising revenue through attracting reader page views as first exposed in the context of social spam.

Articles in content farms have been found to contain identical passages across several media sources, leading to questions about the sites placing search engine optimization goals over factual relevance.Proponents of the content farms claim that from a business perspective, traditional journalism is inefficient. Content farms often commission their writers' work based on analysis of search engine queries that proponents represent as "true market demand", a feature that traditional journalism lacks.

    What is Content Farming

A website which tries to attract users and improve its search engine rankings by publishing large amounts of low quality content or content copied from other websites. It is unethical and not only annoys the search engines but your potential customers as well. If you are into black hat SEO tactics, content farming would be one of them.

The Content Farm, the best online internet repository of informational articles about all of everything, announced today that it would be permanently moving from its temporary home on Tumblr to its new location at the website thecontentfarm.net.

The URL (an abbreviation for “uweb r laddress”) was chosen because of the site’s name, The Content Farm, and because it is on the internet, which can be shortened to “net.”

A content farm is, generally speaking, a site geared towards search engine users. In most cases, it has low quality content based either on automatic recycling (scraping) or low paid labor force. Either way, the content is quite well “optimized” so that it shows up above sites perceived as having a higher quality content.

The process of generating a lot of content with low quality to attract the visitors and search engines is called the content farming. This purpose behind this activity is just to increase the number of traffic for your site. But Google doesn't like the content farming.Google always says that you have to provide the quality not quantity .You should write content for your visitors not for search engines.

I think it's pretty common SEO knowledge that links are good for sites. The more links you have, and the higher quality those links are, the higher you are going to rank in the search engines. Of course there are factors that affect your ranking that you control on your site.

Anything that happens off your site is known as offsite SEO, and since links are coming from another site to your site, a link wheel is an offsite technique.

Content Farming. The term content farming designates a business model on the Internet, whereby content is produced in very high quantity and monetized through online advertising. The content is often regarded as low-quality and created for the sole purpose of getting a high volume of visits.
