Hi, do you think that in today's SEO industry directory submission will help anymore in ranking a site in search engines.

Actually directory submission is the oldest method in ranking a site. But after the recent Google penguin update will doing directory helps in ranking a site or keywords. Also, we would not get instant approval from the directories and also if we get instant approval, the category page you were given backlinks will not cached or indexed means, what is use in submitting in those directories?

Directory Submission is not effective enough, plus if you do thousands of directory submissions then it could ban you site. However you can do submissions on local and niche directory, which has some value.

Yes, you are right. The importance of directory submission (especially the low PR directories) has reduced after the Penguin update. Even high PR directories takes time for the approval and results are pretty slow.

Directories like Yahoo Directories and DMOZ directories are good. But again DMOZ takes hell lot of time for the approval.

Only High pr and do follow directory submission is helpful. Same ip, no follow and low page rank directory submission is not helpful.
