VPS hosting is a Virtual Private Server, and is a virtualized server. A VPS hosting environment mimics a dedicated server within a shared hosting environment. It is technically both shared hosting and dedicated hosting. Virtual Private Server hosting plans offer virtual machines to clients. The concept of virtualization is similar to shared hosting where one server computer can have multiple sites running on it. However, virtualization technology allows each account to be treated as its own machine with its own dedicated resources and operating system. Also the cost of a VPS is lower but the performance is equivalent to a dedicated server.

    Benefits of VPS :

    • A VPS hosting account is less expensive than a full dedicated hosting plan that uses a physical server.
    • Many VPS plans can be customized to meet your needs so you pay for what you want but you do not need to deal with any features you will never need.
    • Many VPS hosting plans are easily scalable. You can start off in your virtual environment with the minimum amount of resources you need and then as you grow gradually increase your hosting plan to accommodate your needs. You do not have to pay for excessive resources you have not yet grown into.
    • You have a lot more control over your virtual server than you do with shared hosting. You will likely have root access and the ability to use scripts that may not be allowed in the shared hosting environment.
    • You have the same technical support as with shared hosting for most issues.
    • You can choose from semi managed hosting where the web host handles some maintenance and fully managed services.

Virtual Private Servers (VPS) has become a very popular type of web hosting services worldwide. Developing VPS's basically involves splitting the resources of a completely effective server into different elements and making the single elements behave as though they have been unbiased servers. With this technique, each part, i.e VPS, may have its own software and operating system. All sorts of modifications can be performed to VPS without affecting any other VPS that connects the equal physical server. A VPS offers a big overall performance improvement over shared website hosting but continues to be cheap as compared to a dedicated server.

VPS Hosting is one of several types of web hosting accounts you can choose from to host your website online. To have a website on the internet, you need to have your website files on a web server.

Setting up and managing a server can not only be expensive, but difficult too. Purchasing web hosting allows someone to rent space on a web server, making it easier for the average person to have host a website online because all they need to do is upload their site files (no server setup is needed on their part).

VPS hosting is a type of web hosting that uses Virtual Private Servers. Although the websites are hosted on the same physical machine, VPS allows each website to be fully independent as if each were on its own separate machine.

Virtual Private Servers (also knwon as “Virtual Dedicated Servers”) are servers which do not interface directly with the hardware which they are running on and cannot interface directly with eachother. The server is as virtual as it is independent of actual hardware and private in the sense that other VPS servers on the node cannot interact with its file system or processes.
Instead of allowing the kernel or operating system to interface directly with hardware components, virtualization software intercepts requests, queues them, and manages their interpretation.

    Hi

Today, I m going to explain to you what is VPS.

VPS stands for Virtual private server. A virtual private server is a virtual machine sold as a service by an Internet hosting service. A VPS runs its own copy of an operating system, and customers may have superuser-level access to that operating system instance, so they can install almost any software that runs on that OS.

A virtual private server (VPS) is a virtual server that appears to the user as dedicated server, but that is actually installed on a computer serving multiple websites. A single computer can have several VPSs, each one with its own operating system (OS) that runs the hosting software for a particular user.
VPS mainly works by abstracting resources on a physical server and provides access to customer to an emulated server called virtual machine (VM). Each virtual machine runs on a particular operation system and have restriction from accessing to the physical server’s compute, memory and resources.
One of the main advantages of the VPS is that the user has full access to VPS’s operating system, with unrestricted root or administrator permissions. VPS also allows the user to host multiple websites. VPS enables the user to install any kind of software that is capable of running on that operating system.

VPSs are commonly used by smaller organizations that want the flexibility of a dedicated server, but without the cost. The primary disadvantage to using VPS is its lack of performance. The user has to face security patches in VPS sometimes.
Some of the top-vendors which provide VPS are GoDaddy, Liquid web and HostGator.
VPS is offered with 10 Mbit/s, 100 Mbit/s or 1000 Mbit/s (with some as high as 10Gbit/s). This means that the customer is theoretically able to use ~3 TB on 10 Mbit/s or up to ~300 TB on a 1000 Mbit/s line per month, although in practice the values will be significantly less.
With the evolution of virtualization software and technology, a large number of companies are offering virtual private server hosting at a reasonable cost. Hosting is either unmanaged or unmetered, in which case the user is responsible for managing and monitoring the server and can transfer an unlimited amount of data on a fixed bandwidth line.

A VPS stands for Virtual Private Server. VPS is just like a dedicated server. VPS created when a physical server divided into a smaller, virtual container. A virtual private server has its operating system, dedicated storage, dedicated RAM, and CPU resource, but it costs much less than a dedicated server.

A virtual private server (VPS) is a virtual server that the user perceives as a dedicated/private server even though it is installed on a physical computer running multiple operating systems.

A virtual private server is also known as virtual dedicated server (VDS).
