    Static Websites

A static site is a website that is written entirely using HTML. Each web page is a separate document and there are no databases or external files that are drawn upon.

This means that the only way to edit this type of website is to go into each page and edit the HTML. So you would have to do it yourself using a web page editor such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver, or pay your web developer to make updates for you.

    Dynamic Websites

A dynamic website is written using more complex code — such as PHP or ASP — and has a greater degree of functionality. For instance, many dynamic websites can be controlled by a content management system. This means that you will potentially be able to make updates without needing any knowledge of HTML or any website software.

Each page of a dynamic website is generated from information stored in a database or external file. And the content management system that you may use to maintain your website directly modifies this stored information.

A static web page is one that has been written once, like a word processing document, and then saved onto the web server. It’s like a file. If you could access the web server at a file system level, move the file over to your computer, and then open it up locally in your web browser, it should look exactly the same as if you looked at it through the Internet. Any changes to a static web page need to be made manually, and then saved again.

A dynamic web page is created on the fly. It doesn’t actually exist on the web server until a web browser requests it. When a request is made, web server runs whatever program will create the web page. That program creates the page dynamically and returns it to the web server, which then passes it along to the web browser.

STATIC WEB PAGE: A static web page shows the required information to the viewer, but do not accept any information from the viewer.

DYNAMIC WEB PAGE: A dynamic web page displays the information to the viewer and also accepts the information from the user
Railway reservation, Online shopping etc. are examples of dynamic web page.

Static websites are simple html based sites that consists of simple and fix pages. While dynamic websites are large websites which consist of powerful web development through PHP, ASP.Net, etc. with database of millions of customers.

Static Web pages contain the same pre built content each time the page is loaded, while the content of dynamic Web pages can be generated on-the-fly.

Static web pages are the pages that only displays the information but you can not change that information.
Dynamic web pages are the pages that displays the information to the viewer and accepts the information from the viewer also.
