HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language which is primary step of creating a web site. HTML is very basic markup language and requires a memorization of a few dozen HTML commands. It is the most powerful tool for websites; HTML is the basic starting code of any website.

HyperText Markup Language (HTML) is the main markup language for creating web pages and other information that can be displayed in a web browser.
HTML is written in the form of HTML elements consisting of tags enclosed in angle brackets (like <html>), within the web page content. HTML tags most commonly come in pairs like <h1> and </h1>, although some tags represent empty elements and so are unpaired, for example <img>. The first tag in a pair is the start tag, and the second tag is the end tag (they are also called opening tags and closing tags). In between these tags web designers can add text, further tags, comments and other types of text-based content

    Importance of HTML

HTML is the underlying language for every Web page.

Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) is to the Internet what moveable type was to early printing presses. Moveable type allowed printers control over the font size and typeface of their publications. HTML allows Web designers control over the size, color, font and positioning of text and graphics on their pages by the use of special instructions referred to as tags. When viewed with compatible browser software, the tags allow a page to be viewed on any computer, regardless of the operating system, in the same format the designer intended.

We can say that HTML is the default language program for web developers. It's easy and quite fast to implement this during the initial web development phase. While you're planning to introduce advance language programs of your website in the future, you now have a static website in place; thus getting inbound traffic.

    Hi,
    To all from this board,

HTML is important as the base language that css, javascript and php plug in to. It provides the content that css styles, javascript enhances and php links to a database and Java is a server-side language, not a web client language. There is a huge scope of the HTML in the professional world as this is the tool to create websites and programmes.

HTML is simple with a few keywords that are dedicated to formatting certain words, sentences, or paragraphs. It is also quite forgiving with mistakes, still showing some result even when there are errors in the code.HTML is prepared by many users because of following advantages..
    HTML is highly flexible
HTML is supported on almost every browser
    HTML is user friendly
    HTML is an open technology
    HTML is consistent and efficient
HTML is designed with a feature of interaction between the webpages, which makes it effective
HTML provides search engine compatible pages.

A major advantage of HTML is that it is free. You do not need any software for HTML, no plug-ins are needed and it means that you can save considerably on your website development cost. Even with open source content management systems, all the plug-ins that you may need are not always free

I find XHTML easier, I started learning that by myself and I got into a web design course at school and they were teaching HTML and I found it harder to use HTML since I know more about XHTML.

A good website starts life in the design stage. There are several aspects of the site that are formed at this stage, including among other things, layout, color, sound, content, functionality and maintainability. No reasonable person would start to build a house without designing it first, no reasonable website builders should begin construction without a design either. While I admit there may be a better chance of succeeding with the un-designed website than with the un-designed house, you are selling yourself short if you skip the design stage.
