A link from a site's page to another of it's page is not cross linking IMHO. Cross linking comes into picture when you have 2 or more sites and you link many pages from your sites to one another. Understanding Excessive cross linking is difficult. In general if you have a new site then avoid linking structures which try to manipulate PR. One way to avoid excessive cross linking is to think it from user point of view. Is it beneficial for the user?...

Cross-linking, or internal link architecture, refers to how you inter-link various pages within your own website. This is seen as key to helping users quickly and easily navigate through your website to related content topics. It’s pretty easy to integrate when building a new website, too, provided you’ve planed your work in advance.

Cross linking refers to the process of linking between two sites. Whether or not they are owned by the same person, cross linking is the process on which the internet is built. It allows users to reference sites with content similar to that which they are already viewing, and may be of further interest to them.

A cross-link is a bond that links one polymer chain to another. They can be covalent bonds or ionic bonds. "Polymer chains" can refer to synthetic polymers or natural polymers (such as proteins). When the term "cross-linking" is used in the synthetic polymer science field, it usually refers to the use of cross-links to promote a difference in the polymers' physical properties.

It is a most popular method in search engine marketing. Make sure each site has unique and natural contents.don't use cross linking to every page. Use anchor text around your cross linking.
