Pros:
It is open-sourced and thus freely available
It is very secured and less prone to any cyber threats
It supports multitasking functionality
It also provides administrative from the system admin support perspective
Linux mostly provides CLI console which requires lesser memory.
Linux provides many levels of security like iptables, tcp_wrapper and pam.
Since Linux is open source, it has many open source control panels for managing hosting but most commonly used control panels are cPanel/WHM and Plesk which are paid.
Windows Servers
Pros:
It is user-friendly and based on graphical user interphase approach
It provides support to a large number of third-party applications
It provides long-term and extensive support to all the versions
It follows an easily customizable approach from the end user perspective
System updates are easily installable compared to its competitors
Windows provides GUI console and so it requires more memory, otherwise it hangs.
Windows provides security in the form of firewall only.
In Windows server, most commonly used control panels are Plesk and WebsitePanel.
