How to choose the correct Operating System?

Windows and Unix systems are very different. There is a huge amount of software that can work on one and not the other, so you have to be careful when choosing what environment is best. Some of the most important things you have to consider when choosing an operating system for your server is software you plan to use and if it’s compatible, programming language website is using, database type that will be used. Control panel preference is also a limiting factor for the operating system your server will use.

A person that wants to use Plesk panel can choose a number of operating systems to work with. Some of these include:

    Windows Server 2008 SP2
    Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
    Windows Server 2012
    Windows Server 2012 R2
    Debian 6 or 7
    Ubuntu 10.04, 12.04 and 14.04
    CentOS 5.1-5.11, 6.0-6.7 and 7
    Cloud Linux 5.1-5.11 and 6.4-6.5

The option to have Plesk a number of different OS gives it great flexibility compared to cPanel/WHM which can only work on Unix Distros, these include:

    CentOS 6 or 7
    Cloudlinux 6 or7
    Red Hat 6 or 7
    Amazon Linux

If you want to choose the correct operating system then you need to identify which operating system is best and suitable for your system because it is the important part in the system through which the system runs.

The operating system is the foundation of the computer, and must be carefully chosen. Choosing an operating system may be hard to do especially without the knowledge of what each operating system has to offer. This buying guide will discuss the basics of an operating system, what to evaluate before deciding on an operating system, and the advantages and disadvantages to each one to help the buyer better determine which operating system to get for his or her computer.

Choosing an operating system may be a challenge without knowing what to look for. There are currently three major operating systems on the market: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. When considering the importance an operating system plays on the entire computer, it is important to take care in choosing the right one. There are a few things one should evaluate before deciding on an operating system.

It all depends on the purpose for which you need the OS. For server equipment, it is better to use Linux or Windows Server. Also, don't forget to set up a data backup.

I have been using Windows Server for many years, so I am satisfied with the stability of this OS. I had nothing to do with Linux, so I can't say anything about it. I also agree with you that you should not neglect data backups and configure it right away. Because I used to have problems with that. I had to use RAID Recovery to recover lost data. I succeeded and after that I set up an automatic backup.
