    Making the Choice

Windows: Microsoft provides its own suite of tools like The Official Microsoft ASP.NET Site for creating web pages and MS SQL Server for database I/O. If you are planning to use these technologies to implement your web solution, you should definitely opt for Windows hosting.

Linux: However if you are using MySQL/WordPress/PHP then you might want to go for Linux for better support with these tools. However if you just want things to work and are not aware or bothered about solutions, it is best recommended you go for free and open-source software and hence Linux should be your choice.

Linux and Windows are two different types of operating systems. Linux is the most popular operating system for web servers. Since Linux-based hosting is more popular, it has more of the features web designers expect. So unless you have websites which need specific Windows applications, Linux is the preferred choice

Linux is more flexible than other operating systems, and with Linux shared hosting, you can easily do any things like creating a blog website, an application, etc. But you can’t do so using Windows shared hosting.

Again, when it comes to Security, Linux shared hosting server is more secure and user-friendly than Windows shared hosting server. In Linux shared hosting server, you can simply use MySQL, Perl and PHP as well.

Although many people consider Linux to be more secure than Windows, both operating systems are equally secure. Security really depends more upon the server setup and the administrators running the server. All of top company managed servers are maintained with the latest security and performance patches and configured for optimal security.

In general, Linux hosting (also known as shared hosting) is less expensive than Windows hosting. Because Linux is a free open-source operating system, web hosting service companies do not have to pay licencing fees to use it on their servers.

Linux is a free open source system; therefore, web hosting service providers do not need to pay licensing fees for using Linux as their hosting servers' operating system.
