How do I reduce file size?

[Nefetiti]

I recently had a graphic designer update a slide deck for me. He used photoshop for transition slides and then converted it to PowerPoint. The graphics are lovely but the file size is close to 90mb. This is fine for in person presentations but I’d like to reduce the size for presentations I need to email.

Right now my work around is saving as pdf then using a free pdf compressor online. However I can’t expect everyone at my company to be able to do that and would like to reduce the size of the PowerPoint slides themselves, without having the graphics be too blurry.

Any recommendations on how to do this?

I’d try compressing the images directly in PowerPoint first. Go to **Picture Format → Compress Pictures** and choose a lower resolution, like 150 ppi, which is usually fine for presentations. Also, check whether the designer exported the Photoshop slides as very high-resolution images, since that could explain the 90 MB file size. Save a copy before compressing so you can compare the quality and file size.

Open the presentation, go to File > Compress Pictures, and choose a lower resolution. That should drop the size without noticeable blur.

I've used https://fylvexa.com/compress-powerpoint for this exact problem. It compresses images right in your browser, keeps everything editable, and doesn't blur things. No uploads needed, just select your file and download a smaller version. Worked great for my photo-heavy decks.
