I have been running different online projects for the last few years, and one thing I learned quickly is that choosing the right hosting provider matters more than people think.
Around a year ago I decided to move one of my projects to an offshore hosting provider because the previous host kept sending warnings about content complaints and takedown notices.
After some research and reading discussions in different hosting communities, I decided to try QloudHost.
Now that I have used it for about a year, I thought it might be helpful to share my experience here for anyone considering offshore hosting.
This is not a promotional post — just my honest experience as a customer.
Why You Need DMCA Ignored Hosting?
First, a quick explanation for people who might not be familiar with the concept.
Traditional hosting providers usually follow strict copyright complaint policies. If they receive a DMCA notice, they may suspend the website quickly to avoid legal problems.
For many website owners this is fine.
But in some cases it becomes a problem.
For example:
Websites that allow user-generated content
File sharing platforms
Discussion forums
Content aggregation websites
Projects dealing with controversial or sensitive topics
Even when the content is not illegal, hosts sometimes remove it just to avoid risk.
That is why some people look for offshore hosting providers that operate in jurisdictions with different policies.
The main idea is not to break the law, but to avoid automatic takedowns for every complaint email.
In my case, my project involved a community platform where users could upload and share content, and the previous hosting company kept sending warnings even when complaints were questionable.
So I started looking for alternatives.
Setup Process (How Long & How Easy)
The setup process with QloudHost was actually simpler than I expected.
Here is how it went for me.
After placing the order, I received the server details within about 10–15 minutes.
The control panel and login information were sent by email, and the setup instructions were pretty clear.
I migrated my website manually because I prefer doing migrations myself, but they also offered migration assistance through support tickets.
Basic steps I followed:
Upload website files
Import database
Update DNS records
Enable Cloudflare
Everything was running normally within about an hour.
One thing I noticed is that their servers are located in the Netherlands, which is a popular location for offshore hosting because of its strong infrastructure and connectivity.
So from a setup perspective, it was straightforward and not very different from normal VPS hosting.
Speed Test Screenshot (Real Data)
Performance was one of the things I was most curious about.
Many people assume offshore hosting is always slow, but that has not been my experience.
My website is hosted on a VPS plan, and most of my visitors come from Europe and Asia.
Here are the approximate results I usually see in speed tests:
Average page load time: 1.2 – 1.8 seconds
Ping from Europe: very low
Ping from Asia: acceptable
The main reason seems to be that the Netherlands has excellent internet infrastructure and good international routing.
Of course, speed also depends on how your website is optimized.
I use:
Cloudflare CDN
caching plugins
optimized images
So the overall performance has been quite stable for me.
Support Experience (Ticket Screenshots)
Support is usually the biggest concern with smaller hosting providers.
I have opened several tickets during the past year.
Most of them were about:
server configuration
firewall settings
migration questions
performance tuning
My experience so far has been mostly positive.
Average response time for tickets was usually between 10 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the issue.
One thing I liked is that the support replies were actually technical and helpful, not just copy-paste responses.
For example, when I had a problem with a firewall configuration, the support agent explained what was happening and suggested a proper solution instead of just sending a generic article.
That kind of support makes a big difference.
Pricing Comparison (Real Information)
Pricing was another reason I decided to try them.
Offshore hosting providers sometimes charge extremely high prices, especially for VPS servers.
Compared with some of the providers I checked earlier, the pricing here seemed relatively reasonable.
Typical things included in the plans:
offshore servers
DDoS protection
privacy-focused hosting
multiple VPS configurations
I would not say it is the cheapest hosting available, but considering the type of service, the pricing seemed fair.
As always, the best approach is to compare providers and choose what fits your needs.
Final Rating Out of 10
After using the service for around a year, here is my personal rating based on my experience.
Performance: 8/10
Support: 8.5/10
Setup & usability: 9/10
Pricing: 8/10
Stability: 8/10
Overall rating: 8.5 / 10
No hosting provider is perfect, but for offshore hosting I would say my experience has been quite good so far.
Final Thoughts
If you are running a normal blog or small business website, you probably do not need offshore hosting.
However, if your project deals with user uploads, controversial topics, or frequent copyright complaints, then choosing the right host becomes very important.
For my use case, QloudHost has been reliable during the past year, and I have not had the problems I experienced with my previous hosting provider.
I would be interested to hear if anyone else here has tried offshore hosting or had similar experiences.
Always good to learn from the community.
