    Question Best Meta Keywords

I recently launched a new site but have a couple of questions about the meta keywords. First, does it matter if I put a space after every comma in the keywords list, for example:

    test, test1, test2

Secondly, what can I do to make my keywords better or are they fine already?

<meta name="keywords" content="Internet, WWW, Hosting, VPS, ISP, UK, Managed, Server, Virtual, Service, Providers, Broadband, Webspace, MySQL, Database, PHP, ASP, Linux, Microsoft, Windows, Unix, 1&1, oneandone" />

By the way, site is http://www.++++++++++.co.uk if you want to check how they look in the code.

It's quite sad that you start you new site by spamming this board...

To make meta keywords more effective use page-specific keywords rather than site-specific.

I think rather than using single keywords you should use the keyword phrases such as windows VPS, Linux VPS, Windows hosting, VPS hosting. These type of keyword phrases can suddenly get targeted traffic to your website.

I completely agree with you meta keywords should be page specific. which will also effect the good page ranking of the site.

    Exclamation Keywords for SEO

Lately though, meta keywords are not that important for search engine optimization, especially compare to other factors. This article describes it a bit more: http://blog.timothyponce.com/2009/05...prove-seo.html

i don't think there is the BEST meta keyword(s) . That's just depend on the way you optimize your site. Competitive keywords are good but kinda hard but its worth in the end...

I believe that no one can be sure about the success of any SEO campaign. You can be on the TOP of any SE but at the same time that will never guarantee you the goos traffic

    Best Meta Keywords

oooo A hot debate Great, Ive been itchin for a ruckus

    Heres my take...

Youre all right. Google probably will penalize you IF you use too many keywords. Thats why its important to either research your keywords or generate a list through a keyword service.

Niche bot is one such service that some of our coaches have used that appears to work well. I myself stick to the bread and butter wordtracker/adwords approach, but youre welcome to go your own way.

I say put them there, but watch the volume. More than five or six is a waste. If you need more than five or six keyword phrases to describe what your website does, you may have to rethink your website.

I would also advise creating a one or two sentence meta description that is keyword rich and describes what you do as well.

    Any takers?

hi there magic.. indeed a long explanation but ..

    You said:

    I say:
Probably we will get penalized IF you use keyword repetitions. Too many keyword(s) on META KEYWORDS is/are not wrong (if no repetitions at all) but of course it is not that preferable because you will find it hard to optimize ALL your keywords. But i repeat it is not wrong though.

    I say:
If were talking about META KEYWORDS not meta description. Obviously five or six keyword phrases are WRONG and no one will ever do that. If an seo specialist do that, he's dumb. Because yes maybe still it is considered a long tail, yes it is easy to have an immediate standing on SERP because of lesser competition but those kind of keywords have low conversions. 2-3 words is quite enough when you want it as long tail.

    Or

to make your explanation short here. No keyword stuffing

Meta tags are main heart of Search Engine Optimization, so you have to make unique meta tags if you meta tags are not good of duplicate on you site then google can't index you site and give penalty. So build unique and quality meta tags.

As they are keywords, you have to treat them as keywords and not as sentence. You should use comma after each separate keyword otherwise Google will count them as one single keyword. But one thing, why you are making a mess with keywords because they are no longer valued by Google.
