To resolve canonicalization put the "rel=canonical" tag on your duplicate page.
.htacess file = .htacess file is the very important file where you can do too many things for your website. like you can redirect your old URL to new URL. you can set 301, 302, 303 redirection from .htacess file. and also you can stop perticuler country traffic. and too many things
