You can remove the bad, spammy backlinks that are pointing to your website by using the Disavow tool. It is part of Google Search Console, formerly known as Webmaster Tools that allows publishers to convey to Google the message that they don't want certain links from external sites to be considered as part of Google’s system of counting links to rank websites.

To Disavow a link from your website:

- Login to Google Webmaster Tool
- Under the dropdown menu button, select the Domain for which you have to disavow links
- Click on "Disavow Links"
- Click "Choose File"
- Upload the list of domains you need to disavow in a .txt format
