Do-Follow links are the heavy hitters. They pass authority to your site, which directly helps with rankings. Think of them as a vote of trust from other websites. If you’re building backlinks, these are the ones you want to prioritize — especially from high-quality, relevant sites.

No-Follow links, on the other hand, don’t pass link juice, so they don’t directly boost your SEO. But don’t write them off! They still bring value by driving real traffic. For example, a No-Follow link from a popular blog or social media platform might not help your rankings, but it can send you a ton of visitors who could become customers or followers. Plus, Google uses No-Follow links to see a more natural backlink profile — too many Do-Follows can look suspicious.

So, here’s my take: Focus on earning Do-Follow links for SEO, but don’t ignore No-Follows — they add balance and can still bring in traffic and credibility. A mix of both is what you’re aiming for. For example, I’ve seen sites get great results by combining guest posts (Do-Follow) with mentions on big platforms like Reddit or forums (No-Follow).
