SEO with Google My Business or GMB

    Hey Friends,

I did a search on our forums and did not see much posted about this so I wanted to ask about those who have been doing SEO with Google My Business or GMB?

Over the years, I have noticed some clients of mine and even some leads who have done no SEO work, do not do marketing really either, the do not even post or update in the GMB, and still have HUGE traffic levels in and from their GMB.

I know some other marketing & SEO companies are offering services within the GMB.

We wanted to simple increase relevant search within the GMB alone if this is possible.

I have found and paid for a couple software tools that help with audits, rankings, scheduled posting, geo / keyword tagging, etc.

For the most part we have been focusing on our on page or on profile work first because I have always believed no point in doing off page seo for a site that has errors or isn't done.

Those on page or on profile SEO efforts alone have not lead to any real ranking increases from what we are seeing after a couple of months so wanted to see what others are doing.. ?!?!?

Many people been saying how off page is dead now lol as I am sure you have been hearing this trend as well.

We also recently started doing off page work with some citations, website footer link backs, and plans for a funnel style landing page on the site for the gmb linking to, but we have not done much with the website parts or off page seo so far.

    Thanks in advance.

has anyone here tried adding local posts with keywords to their GMB listing lately? I’ve been doing that weekly for a plumbing business, and it seems to help with local visibility. Also curious if anyone noticed a boost after getting more customer Q&A filled out directly on the listing. Does that still move the needle?

What helped me a lot was replying to reviews, posting updates, and making sure everything stayed current. I’ve also seen some improvement on bing seo just by keeping business info consistent across platforms, especially name, address, and phone number.

SEO with Google My Business (GMB) is a powerful way to boost local visibility. By optimizing your GMB profile with accurate business details, keywords, categories, photos, and regular posts, you can improve your chances of appearing in Google’s local pack and maps results. Encourage customer reviews, respond promptly, and update your services to gain trust. GMB strengthens local SEO, drives more traffic, and helps convert nearby searchers into real customers.
